BUSFEST 2022 - CELEBRATING 10 YEARS DISPLAY

BUSFEST 2022 - 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Inside the SEVERN HALL on the over the weekend our BUSFEST CINEMA was showing a special selection of Busfest Video's & Slide Shows celebrating the past ten years of Busfest at Malvern.

We also had a fixed diplay of photo's and regalia from the past decade or so showing in the Busfest Information.

We also had a second display area celebrating 25 years of BIG Ariel displays at BUSFEST.

We had also planned to have a "Special Birthday Surprise" appearing at the event on the Saturday Afternoon, but unfortunatly this had to be cancelled because of the death of our Queen. (it was going to be a multiple aircraft display involving wing walkers).

We decided that we needed to come up with something else to suit the occasion so came up with another special surprise and also a secondary display which we think really summed up the past 10 years of our event very well.

The first surprise was to do an unveiling of a real ID BUZZ at our event. (Not even VW UK could manage to do that!)

Luckily we have some very good friends in Germany who were able to bring one over for us. Many Thanks to Christian & Katja Schluter for coming to our event (again) this year

Next , we did did manage to come up with a very impressive ground display which we think was a lot more suitable for the occasion.

Many thanks to Katja Krull & Markus Kunne for managing to get this display together at short notice.

It could be said that this is actually an “Old, New Borrowed & Blue" Display

  • The “Old” is Rikki James 1954 Samba, which has been with us at Malvern since the very early days.

And also most of the "old" vehicles in our “Busfest Fleet” which have been essential workhorses for our event for the past decade (and beyond).

  • The Busfest Crewbus “White” a 1989 Hightop Syncro which was originally one of the Bupa/Rowan Ambulances before it became one of our event vehicles in 2005
  • The Busfest Fire Engine “Red”. A 1986 Syncro Doka fully functional fire engine has been an essential part of the fleet since 2006.
  • The Busfest Rallybus “Rebel 1” A 1985 Syncro came to us in 2015 with a very impressive history and still turning heads wherever it goes
  • The Busfest Pickup “Maggie” A Former Thatchers T4 Syncro Pickup tipper van, joined the crew in 2021 and is now a very popular and utilised vehicle at the event.
  • The Busfest Promo Van. A T5 Panel van which has been part of the Busfest fleet since 2008

“New” is the ID Buzz, the very latest fully electric offering from VW which is really an amazing vehicle which we were very lucky to get at Malvern.

The only UK Based (VW Promo) Buzz was not available for our event. However, we are very fortunate to have very good friends (and a little bit of influence!) with VW AG & managed to get Christian Schluter to bring his ID Buzz over from Germany especially for our event.

This Buzz has got an amazing story to go with it (or should that read this story has got an amazing buzz to go with it!)

Check out this LINK if you want to know more about Chris & Katjas travels in their ID BUZZ

Many thanks to Christian & Katja for bringing their vehicle to the event.

The “Borrowed” came in the form of the fantastic set of vehicles loaned to us for the event by our Sponsors VW VERTU (HEREFORD).

Many thanks to them for letting us have 2 of their T6 Panel vans, a Crafter and a very nice T7 Multivan (Hybrid)

OK the “Blue” just has to be my own 1988 Syncro Caravelle (Which is called “Blue”),

Blue has been an essential workhorse, play horse and just about everything else horse at every Busfest (and Vanfest) event held at Malvern and has also featured in all of the BIG Displays. (And yes folks, it still looks and drives just as well as it did when I first got it – apart from the broken bits!)

And yes, the other essential part of the display was to get some of our wonderful Busfest People into the picture. (Yep, that other old slogan of ours - Busfest, keeping you in the frame, by making you part of the picture!)

Unfortunatly the full visual 10th Anniversary celebration (including ariel pictures taken on the Saturday) was never shown at the event as on the Saturday night, the Busfest Cinema fell victim to ambiance issues within the Hall.

This page should give you a lot more feel as to what we were trying to acheive. and the chance to see these now in full HD and download them if you want
